This is a
collection of the equipment you will be using
(some of it shared):
- TLC plate (silica gel)
to left of pencil - handle only by
edges!
- Pencil (not pen) for
marking the TLC plate.
- Plastic ruler - metric
scale.
- Lined paper or index
card for accurate spotting (held with
blue tape in photo - a few set up for
sharing, bring your own for
convenience if you wish).
- Developing jar (Check
out one jar and one TLC plate for
each solvent - three typically.)
- Large filter paper -
for lining of jar to "wick"
solvent up, and thus saturate
atmosphere in jar with solvent vapor.
- Microcapillaries (You
only need one - for your
unknown; leave capillary dispenser in hood.)
- Standard samples
(vials standing in red tray - one
set for entire lab; leave in hood)
