Start with whole cloves. You will receive approximately 10g, so the first part of the experiment, isolation of eugenol, will be scaled up from the Lehman procedure by a factor of two. |

The cloves are ground in a coffee grinder, then weighed and placed in a 500 mL round bottom flask for co-distillation. |
